The Woman in Cabin 10 Film

This suspenseful mystery includes Keira Knightley playing Laura, a skilled journalist who opts for a break from writing about world issues to join a luxury cruise accompanied by a gravely sick Norwegian shipping heiress and charitable figure, her husband, plus additional extremely wealthy guests. But after an enigmatic female goes overboard one night and all passengers insists she wasn't real, the reporter's sleuthing skills take over. Streaming currently, Netflix

Presence Film

Steven Soderbergh pushes his film-making abilities in this nifty paranormal narrative captured wholly from the perspective of a ghost. When a household with Lucy Liu as Rebekah plus Callina Liang as Chloe moves into their fresh home, the lens – representing the ghost – follows them around. The teen shows signs of conscious of the supernatural presence, and it seems guarding her. However, the motive remains? It's a fun idea that remains concise, with a twist you might not see coming. Saturday 11 October, afternoon and evening times, the Sky channel

This Self-Referential Film

The iconic actor embraces his cult stardom through this meta comedy caper. He acts as a self-obsessed Hollywood actor called Nicolas Cage who agrees to a $1m payday to visit a festive event on the Spanish island for the wealthy Javi, played by Pedro Pascal. Hired by the intelligence agency to gather intel on the suspected cartel boss, Cage's unconventional method proves useful. Saturday 11 October, 9pm, Channel 4

This Creepy Thriller

Scott Derrickson's contained scarefest remains effective without requiring a sequel. Set in 1970s Colorado, multiple disappearances has left the youth frightened. When Finney gets captured by “the Grabber” and locked up in a basement, he dreads the worst. However, the old telephone on the wall repeatedly calls, with ghostly voices providing assistance, as the intuitive nightmares from his sibling Gwen may be his salvation. An effective horror. Saturday 11 October, 10.50pm, the Film4 channel

The Eyes of Tammy Faye

In the battle between God and Mammon, the winner is obvious for materialism in this director's wonderfully garish true story regarding the shamed religious broadcaster and her criminal husband. Garfield portrays the corrupt Bakker, who proclaims early on, asserting religious justification for riches. The couple commence monetising the nation's religious faith. It's an extravaganza of tacky decor, bad makeup and hypocrisy, yet Chastain achieves to depict the character with compassion. Tuesday 14 October, 1.15am, the Film4 channel

The Spy Mystery

The current week's additional entry from Steven Soderbergh delivers a intelligence thriller as sharp like the turtlenecks sported by Fassbender's British agent. He receives a mission with uncovering a mole inside the organization from a group of five – among them is Kathryn, played by Cate Blanchett. The two stars are masters of calm composure, leading to a delightful mental battle of truth or lie develops. Tom Burke, Regé-Jean Page, Naomie Harris and Marisa Abela join in the clever spy entertainment. October 17th, 8.05am, 12.55pm, 8pm, Sky Cinema Premiere
